Unbelievable

U N B E L I E V A B L E
Netflix, Limited Series.

Unbelievable is a limited series that shows a perfect serial rapist and how he never gets caught coz he carefully chooses his victims to be lonely or emotionally unstable ladies and later leaves the crime scene staged in a way that the episode when stated by the victims seems like a poorly cooked story for attention seeking.
This is not a review about the story or direction or sorts. I am sharing what broke my heart. The girl whose bubble is not burst by that rape but by her own people much after the rape happens!
It broke my heart much more than the rape and the fact that he got away with the rape.

Rape is an unforgivable act.

My personal belief is, between a man and his woman, be it her partner or son, the relationship should be so strong that even if 'he' commits a murder, he should be comfortable enough to come and confess to his lady. They should be together in each other’s every good and bad.
But rape! I would be the first punisher if my man or my boy commits a heinous crime like that!

This blog is not about rape though.

The little girl is a regular teenager. Short, sweet, not so pretty, not at all ugly. Naughty.
Looking for affirmations through attention and therefore being dramatic to gather all the attention she can. Alike from family, friends and strangers. She is bold. An extrovert.  She doesn't hesitate to talk to people, she considers humans, humans. Behaving at ease around anyone and everyone. The genesis is attention seeking and arriving at her worth through the attention she is able to gather.
Basically a very common personality type of a 'full of energy teenager' who has already stayed with multiple foster parents in her short life yet.

This girl, post her rape, fails to understand the gravity of the incident. Maybe, she has blocked her mind to the shock. Or maybe she has taken the support of her family and friends too granted. And so, her bubble is intact. She has a light heart the immediate next day after the rape. She walks with the same spring in her feet hymning songs.
Being normal, being herself.

The rape could not hamper the spring in her feet. Her own people could!

She states the facts just as they are. Nothing more, nothing less.
Maybe she thinks, stating facts is enough. Maybe she doesn't know they all "expected" her to shed some tears along with the facts. And what prize do they make her pay for being not-so-dramatic while talking about rape!
They don't believe her!
They finally, after a while, come to the conclusion that this is one of her attention-seeking activities. Really! This is exactly where my heart breaks. Even while writing, this is exactly when my heart aches to the core!

Irrespective of how good the rapist was at making it look like a cooked story of lonely ladies. Irrespective of the fact that the police failed at their jobs in finding out who it was and how was it done.

And also irrespective of the fact if she was lying or not about it.
Is it not as heinous as the rape itself to not believe her without even trying to find out what really happened. I say, if anyone would have put in some effort in even evaluating if their doubt is true, their conclusion would have been justified to a certain extent!

No one tried you know! No one did.
They tagged her a liar without even attempting to talk to her to those depths. They boycotted her without comforting her to confess if at all she was lying.

I talk for both sides. I say just in case they doubted her for her basic nature, the least they could have done was to put in some effort to make her talk. No one did what mattered. Let's not at all talk about the little, superficial support some of them showed. Come on, it is rape. If they expected her to be that sad and grave as an aftereffect, they too needed to go way beyond just take her shopping and occasionally talking to her!

As time progresses, the whole episode, instead of fading away, darkens her days! Her smile, instead of coming back to its full arch, fades completely! This is not because someone had forced sex with her. This was because her own people raped her faith in them!

This is not acceptable and should be really thought of by all of us.
If you read this blog till this point, I request you to please support your people when they need you. They may be wrong, but you go beyond the judgments. Stay aware they're wrong, but help them see it too. Do not boycott or judge and leave people hanging with incorrect perspectives.

Often when someone is stuck with an incorrect perspective or is yet to mature mentally, they are not open to other people's advice or suggestions. They may also get rude and end up hurting their well-wishers. Especially teenagers and super elders.
I don't say we should ignore our hurt. We can't and we shouldn't. But we definitely have the capacity to heal faster and keep putting in efforts for those who need help. They won't realize it, but leaving them be at such times may damage them permanently! And it is far bigger than the small hurt we will go through in the process.

In the end, it's worth it.

" But rape! I would be the first punisher if my man or my boy commits a heinous crime like that! " Why only a man or boy will rape? Women's also do rape and men's are victim too. Why sympathy here in blog is given always for 'she' and not 'he' ?

Rape is an unforgivable act flat. Anyone, anywhere, men or women doing it should be ripped off their right to live in peace.
Answering your question..this biased sympathy happens because of the highly unbalanced ratio! I hope someday soon rapes happening on women by men fall down to the number of rapes happening other way round. Maybe, then, no one will subconsciously extend their sympathy towards women only. This is no point to debate on, as I completely agree with you hence not quoting the easily available stats of rapes happening to women as compared to men. But if you check for yourself, you'll know what is the trigger that one automatically refers to "him" attempting rape on "her"
Nevertheless, my (and speaking for a lot of general masses) sincere support and strength to anyone going through this!

Palm Springs - A light read of my wonder

Palm Springs: Available on Netflix . Gist of the movie: So a guy gets stuck on a date 14.02.2020. He lives 14 th Feb over n over again. He never wakes up to 15 th Feb. Each morning is a new version of 14 th Feb 20. Now he, along with his girlfriend has come to his friend’s destination wedding at some resort, little far from the city. All the guests live the same day along with him. The wedding happens daily. The only difference being, only this guy knows that the day is being repeated. All the others live it like their 1 st ever  14 th Feb 20. With yet another accident, a girl from the wedding also gets stuck with him and unlike others, she too is now aware of the limbo. The story is about the struggle of coming out of the loop, on a very light note. My remind you of 50 First Dates. The difference being, there she lives the same day again and again and here, everyone does. The protagonist knows about the limbo, others don't.  With this, share with me answers to my w
